IMF programme will continue – New Finance Minister





Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, the newly appointed Finance Minister, has assured all stakeholders, particularly the International Monetary Fund (IMF), that he will uphold the current program. He has taken over the position from Ken Ofori-Atta following a ministerial reshuffle announced by President Akufo-Addo on February 14.

Dr. Amin Adam emphasized the government's commitment to maintaining the IMF program. He stated that he would ensure the program remains on course and that there will be no deviation from it. He also highlighted the government's determination to implement pro-poor initiatives outlined in the budget and to expedite the execution of tax reliefs proposed.

Speaking in an interview on Citi FM on Thursday, February 15, Dr. Adam reiterated his dedication to ensuring that the IMF bailout program continues smoothly. This program consists of various policies and reforms aimed at enhancing economic stability, fostering growth, and creating a conducive environment for sustainable development in Ghana.

The measures within the IMF bailout program include efforts to tackle inflation, reduce budget deficits, and strengthen the country's economic resilience.
