In the Kasoa murder case, a young offender alleges that a juvenile framed him.

Alleged killers of the 10-year-old boy

During cross-examination by state prosecutors in the Kasoa murder case involving the death of an 11-year-old boy for alleged money ritual, one of the teenage suspects reiterated his denial of involvement in the crime, accusing his co-accused of framing him. He stated before Justice Lydia Osei Marfo that he was not acquainted with the victim and denied any role in planning the murder.

After being confronted by state prosecutors with his own cautioned statement to the police, wherein he admitted to knowing his alleged accomplice well, the young suspect maintained his innocence, stating that he was not close enough to the victim to plan his murder. This occurred during questioning before Justice Lydia Osei Marfo in the Kasoa murder case.

During cross-examination by Senior State Attorney Nana Ama Adoma, the young offender asserted that the victim had only spent the Friday night at his place before the incident, stating, "I believe it was a setup that I got caught up in." Additionally, he denied any knowledge of the items the prosecution alleged were used in the commission of the crime, stating, "I have no familiarity with the evidence collected from the scene."

The accused, maintaining his innocence, stated that the tools in question were already present at the scene before their arrival, and he urged the court to conduct fingerprint tests on those exhibits to determine whether he had handled any of them. He further requested fingerprint testing on the exhibits collected from the uncompleted building where the victim was murdered.

Background:
A 15-year-old juvenile and an 18-year-old young offender are facing charges of conspiracy and murder in the death of an 11-year-old boy. Both defendants have pleaded not guilty and are currently undergoing trial before Justice Lydia Osei Marfo. According to the prosecution, on March 29, 2021, the accused consulted a spiritualist for money rituals, locally known as "sakawa," who allegedly requested GH¢5,000 and a human being for the rituals, claiming to be located in the Volta Region.

According to the prosecution, on April 3, 2021, the accused individuals allegedly planned to utilize the boy for their "sakawa" endeavors. Around 9 a.m. on that day, the juvenile defendant reportedly enticed the boy into an unfinished building, where the other accused individual lay in wait with the handle of a pickaxe. Upon the boy's arrival, they instructed him to retrieve a video game from a sack they had placed in a corner of the room.

"When the boy stooped down to retrieve the video game from the sack, the second accused allegedly struck him at the back of his neck with the club, causing him to collapse," Nana Osei stated. She continued, saying that the boy then turned to the juvenile accused and begged him not to kill him but to forgive him if he had wronged him. However, his plea was allegedly ignored by the juvenile accused, who struck the boy's head with a cement block found in the building. Consequently, the boy lost consciousness but was still breathing.

According to the prosecution, the accused individuals proceeded to utilize a spade and a shovel to dig a shallow grave within the room, where they buried the boy with the intention of transporting him to the spiritualist.
