American rapper Meek Mill expressed his interest in teaming up with an African artist, specifically from Nigeria or Ghana, to produce an album.
In a tweet on X, formerly known as Twitter, he reached out to his followers, asking for suggestions on which African artist he should collaborate with.
Meek Mill emphasized his confidence in his rapping skills and stated that he could complete the album in just two weeks.
Meek Mill took to Twitter on Tuesday, January 30th, to pose a question to his followers:
"If I made an album with an African artist, who should it be? Nigeria? Ghana? I rap well, and with a skilled producer, I could finish it in just two weeks. Drop a comment with your suggestions!"
The rapper is yet to feature any Ghanaian or Nigerian artiste.
Meek Mill in a tweet last week revealed that he charges $250,000 for a verse, but he’s open to negotiating down to $150,000 in the right circumstances.
On X, Meek shared, "Whenever I drop a verse, I charge 250k or more. But if you've got 150k upfront and I vibe with the song, we can work something out!"
Meek Mill elaborated on why he charges such a price, noting that some artists require additional platforms for promotion. He highlighted his substantial fan base of over 50 million people and his strong presence on streaming platform playlists, suggesting that he can assist in promoting their work.
Having developed a fondness for Ghana, the rapper has visited the country several times for vacations, even sparking controversy by shooting a music video at the Jubilee House.
Meek Mill expressed his commitment to signing a Ghanaian artist to his record label, Dream Chasers Records, during his second visit to the country in 2023.
Meek Mill made this known during an interaction with his fans on X, where one fan asked him to look into the music talents in Ghana.
“Ima sign one next time I come! Remember this post!” the rapper said.
