Otto Addo
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is actively pursuing a new coach for the Black Stars national team following their disappointing performance at the recent Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
Discussions have been held with Otto Addo, a former Ghanaian footballer who presently serves as an assistant coach at Borussia Dortmund, for the vacant coaching position.
Chris Hughton, the former coach of the Black Stars, was relieved of his duties following the team's underwhelming display at AFCON, where they managed only two points and were eliminated in the group stage.
The decision to seek a new coach was made by a five-member committee, chaired by Mark Addo, the Vice President of the GFA.
However, Asempa FM Sports has disclosed that Otto Addo is in advanced negotiations to reclaim the position of head coach of the Black Stars. He previously guided the team to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar by defeating Nigeria in the playoffs.
If appointed, Otto Addo will be supported by Maxwell Konadu, who currently holds the position of head coach at Nsoatreman FC.
The GFA has received a total of 500 coaching applications for the vacant role, indicating a significant level of interest in the position.
The Committee is expected to submit their recommendation to the Executive Council of the GFA for final approval.
