Raphael Dwamena to be laid to rest today

The final funeral ceremony of Raphael Dwamena is presently underway at the Adjiriganor AstroTurf in Accra. A large gathering from both the Ghanaian football community and beyond has assembled to bid farewell to the former Black Stars forward alongside his family.

Notable figures in attendance include Kurt Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), along with other members of the Executive Council.

The tragic incident leading to Dwamena’s demise occurred on November 11th, when the 28-year-old collapsed during a league match between his team, Egnatia, and Partizan in the Albanian league. Despite immediate medical attention, the former UD Levante striker could not be revived.

This unfortunate sequence of events brings attention to concerns surrounding Dwamena's health, notably dating back to 2017, when he failed a medical examination prior to a potential transfer to the Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion, due to indications of cardiac issues.
