The Nigerian film 'Issakaba' is poised for a comeback, this time in the form of a television series.

Sam Dede, a seasoned actor, is slated to reprise his iconic role as 'Ebube' in the sequel to the 2001 Nollywood hit 'Issakaba.'

In a recent Instagram post, veteran actor Sam Dede teased the comeback of "Issakaba," stating, "Issakaba!!! The Myth returns. A river does not flow through a forest without bringing down trees. Men with evil minds lurk in the dark. But….. Justice is mine."

The original director, Lancelot Imasuen, is also returning to helm the upcoming project.

Earlier this month, Imasuen promoted the second round of auditions for the film in Asaba, Delta, indicating active progress in production.

The term 'Issakaba' is derived from the anagram of Bakassi, inspired by the real-life Bakassi Boys – a grassroots vigilante group established in 1998 to combat crime in Nigeria's South-East region.

In the film, Ebube leads the Issakaba boys in addressing armed robbery in their village, employing mystical charms and innovative tactics for swift justice.

The original five-part film from 2001 featured a cast that included Chiwetalu Agu, Pete Eneh, Amaechi Muonagor, Susan Obi, Mike Ogundu, and John Okafor. The sequel maintains familiar faces like Andy Chukwu, Zulu Adigwe, Diewait Ikpechukwu, and others.

While production is ongoing, the release date for the sequel is yet to be disclosed. Stay tuned for updates on the highly anticipated return of the 'Issakaba' saga in Nollywood.
